Anti-vibrations mountings are designed to absorb shocks in automobiles engines and other systems which requires protections from damage due to vibrations.

Rubber absorbs the vibrations like no other materials known to mankind. Many A. V. mountings have to be bonded to steel or other metals to be able to fit in equipments to do their jobs .

Though the better known rubber for shock absorption is butyl rubber, in India it is natural that is mostly used for this purpose because of the price advantage. However natural rubber is mechanically a very strong rubber.

Many mountings are also made from nitrile or Neoprene for oil resistance or oil plus heat applications.
